When AI Becomes a Blind Spot: Lessons from Students, Professionals, and Investors

AI is changing how we work and learn. Most started using AI innocently, much like a smarter Google. However, we are seeing students score zero for submitting AI-generated answers without their own thoughts. Even professionals face risks—one lawyer used AI-generated content in a final verdict without fact-checking. In the United States, surveys show that many retail investors have lost money by trusting AI-generated advice blindly.

We may laugh or shake our heads at these stories and wonder how people could make such mistakes, but most didn’t start out carelessly. These stories remind us that new tools require both caution and discernment.

For storytellers and brand creators, the lesson is clear: don’t let AI dictate the story. Harness AI to audit; leverage data and speed for cost-effective insights, and shape your message to be relevant and resonant. Creativity and technology should work together, especially when entering a foreign market like China.

AI is a valuable research tool, providing information quickly, saving costs, and supporting our vision. As AI develops, we must not allow it to replace wisdom—our soft skills, life experiences, and emotions. Leadership means using AI to enhance our judgment, not surrendering our judgment to AI.
